Hello! James here.
šØš»āš» I am a third-year PhD student at the University of Michigan School of Information.
š My research interests are in knowledge and cultural production, science of science, and science and technology public policy. More specifically, Iām interested in the sociocultural factors that inspire the creation of new knowledge, as well as policies that promote novel and useful science. Current research focuses on how laboratory working conditions shape the speed, direction, and quality of science.
š¬ To answer these interdisciplinary questions, I use approaches from the computational social science and applied microeconomics toolkits.
š«±š½āš«²š¼ My current work is advised by Misha Teplitskiy, and I am a member of the Disco Lab. I am serving as a School of Information steward and co-head steward for professional schools for the Graduate Employees Organization 3550.
š I received my B.A./M.S. 4+1 in International and Development Economics from the University of San Francisco, where I wrote a thesis advised by Jesse Anttila-Hughes.
